A review/evaluation of how effective the support for speech, language and communication is in your setting

hi Sharon,
heres a little of what i wrote to point you in the right direction

3.4 evaluating the effectiveness of speech, language and communication support for children in my setting

I think that the support given to children with speech, language and communication needs is really good and effective we have many different strategies in place to suit the needs of the individual child. We have a couple of children in the setting who have 1:1 support and they work very closely with parents and outside agencies. Sometimes we do have to wait quiet a while for activity sheets from SALT after they have assessed a child. All the staff are now being taught on ways to support children with dyslexia to enable us to get a better understanding of how a child with dyslexia sees letters and words. We have many different resources in school to help with the support of the children ranging from specialist ICT resources such as large mouse and keyboard to computer programs, this allows the child to take part in the same lesson as his peers. We have inclusion support visit the setting to ensure the children have resources in place to support them and if not will contact the appropriate services. The speech and language therapist visits the school and assesses the children and will advise on different activities or strategies we could try with the chid. Staff in the setting also get support from SENCO in the school and we are able to voice any concerns we may have regarding children’s speech, language and communication needs.

hope it helps x

Hi

i think your the only one that can answer this question.
do you have any outside help?
do you have any visual aids around your setting?
do you have any training in communicating (courses attended)?
what would you do if you had a child with communication difficulties?
do you belong to child minding organisation that may offer support?
do you feel you are doing enough (communication wise)?
you just need to find things that may need improving or maybe say if i had achild with a communication difficulty i would contact ***** (whoever would help you)
do you have any support from a SALT (speech and language Therapist) if you don't how could you?

Probably doesn't help but worth a shot

Lynne
