How can reflection and evaluating your performance help you in your work? K3D223
Reflection and evaluating your performance can help you in many aspects:
- changing children’s behaviour – by thinking about the way in which you responded to children’s behaviour, you can develop new strategies.
- working with parents – by thinking through how you work with parents, you may be able to develop stronger partnership.
- meeting individual children’s needs – by reflecting on the way that children are learning and your role in this, you should be better able to meet children’s needs.
- planning to meet children’s needs – by considering the effectiveness of your plans, you may be able to develop new systems of planning and recording that are faster or more effective.
- your role with children – by thinking about effectiveness of the way in which you work with children you can tailor your approach to suit their interests and needs.
- working with colleagues – reflecting on the way in which you interact with colleagues can help you to create better relationships and teams. This can help you to enjoy your work more.

In what ways would you use reflection to ensure best practice? K3D227

- talk through changes and about your ideas with your manager and colleagues
- listen to their concerns and ideas
- explain reasons for and benefits of changing practice
- avoid making personal comments
- review and evaluate changes to practice
