1.2 Explain how duty of care contributes to the safeguarding or protecting of individuals

My Assessor has asked me to expand on the duty of care in safeguarding to include the rights of individuals e.g, additional needs, other cultures, communication barriers. Has anyone else had to write additional on this?

Barriers for communication you can mention...

Language- they may not speak your language and can cause not much or no communication.

Time- a person may be in a hurry to get somewhere which means avoiding most conversations and bad communication to get the message over which then later on can lead to anger and frustration.

Under the influence of drugs and or alcohol- A person can be spacey, day dreaming, tired, drunk, aggressive, withdrawn, all these and other symptoms can lead to bad communication.

Fathers- Fathers can feel uncomfortable if there are a lot of mothers about and could feel shy and awkward.

Hope this gives you some ideas of what to put for the communication barriers
Good luck!
