"Duty of Care: The duty which rests upon an individual or organisation to ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure the safety of a child or young person involved in any activity or interaction for which that individual or organisation is responsible. Any person in charge of, or working with children and young people in any capacity is considered, both legally and morally to owe them a duty of care. i have managed to do a little - finding it really hard to stay focused at the moment its half term and the weather is so nice...........just want to be outside instead of glaring at a computer screen
have managed to to find the willpower to do a little, could you tell me if im heading in the right direction
Children, especially young children are vulnerable because they have not yet developed the physical and cognitive skills to care for themselves, so they need care from the adults around them. All practitioners who work with children have a duty of care towards them.
The younger and more vulnerable the child, the greater the duty of care. As a practitioner, vigilance and attention keeps young children safe as they develop;
• The ability to foresee and cope with potential dangers
• More robust immune systems
• Empathy – understand that their actions may hurt or upset others
• Communication skills to be able to talk about the harm others may be doing them.

Thankyou xx

DUTY OF CARE AND SAFEGUARDING
· duty of care is to keep children and young people safe and to protect them from sexual, physical and emotional harm. Children have a right to be safe and to be treated with respect and dignity. We as adults must take reasonable steps to ensure the safety and well being of pupils. Failure to do this could be regarded as professional neglect. Always act and be seen to act in the child’s best interests.
· Duty of care safeguards children by the setting having done risk assessments and precautions taken to avoid accidents or the spreading of infections. Follow the correct procedures if you have any concerns for the child’s well being, set clear boundaries for children depending on age, stage and development and discourage any behaviour, which could result in a child being harmed or upset. Assessments and observations on children can alert you to any problems that may need addressing and the discussions with parents and other professionals. Always listen to what children have to say and take any concerns they may have seriously.
hope this gives you a few more ideas x

Duty of care is to ensure that children and young people are safe and protected from sexual, physical and emotional harm. Children have the right to be safe and to be treated with respect.
It is important that when we carry an activity out that we do a risk assessment to avoid accidents from happening it is also important to ensure the environment is safe, warm and meets the child’s needs.

just wanted to check I was on the right track :)
