just for the person you are giving it to.

DOWNLOAD THE PDF

Ideal for Easter, or if you are covering the following themes - lifecycle of the Chicken, the colour yellow,
birds, farms & animals, eggs, Materials/fabrics or Sewing crafts in general.
Instructions to make
You will need
  • Yellow material – we found felt or fleece worked best as this doesn’t fray at the edges so quickly.
  • Black beads or permanent marker pen for the eyes
  • Orange felt or paper for the beak.
  • Clear glue
  • Needle and cotton
  • A little cotton wool or similar for stuffing
  • Red felt tip pen – for the cheeks!
Method
Print out the body, wing and beak pattern.
Cut 2 bodies from yellow fabric.
2 wings from yellow fabric.
1 beak from orange felt or paper

CHICK PATTERN

Blanket stitch around the outer edge of the body
Leave a gap and gently stuff with the cotton.
                     Sew the gap closed.
Sew the short edge of the wing to the top of the body.
                     Repeat on the other side.
Sew the eye beads into place or draw them on with the pen.
Cut a beak from felt or paper and glue/stitch it into place.
Use the red pen to colour in cheeks each side of the beak.

Chick will look like this !

 Ideas for using the chick.
Fridge magnet – Use a glue gun to stick a small magnet to the back of the chick.
Easter card – Collage a sheet of card with hay, straw, small twigs or feathers -  for the chicks nest –
glue the chick onto it for a cute look.
  Plant pot decorations -
Paint a plant pot yellow and white – paint a straw or hay nest – use a glue gun and stick the
chick to the front.
Fill the pot with soil and plant a couple of Daffodil/Tulip or crocus bulbs inside.
    Attach a gift label
Small Baskets - purchase or make these with junk modelling items:
a washed yoghurt pot would work well with a stapled paper handle.
     Decorate ..
Use coloured feathers and yellow cellophane to line the basket/pot.
Add a few home made chocolate eggs or a few bought ones.
Pop in your chick and tie a ribbon to the top of the basket handle.
  Attach a gift label.
