This role play idea sets the scene for lots of outdoor space shuttle adventures .
Resources to take out:
Plantpots - a variety of sizes
Aluminium foil
A tray of measuring & fixture items:
Rulers, Compass, Pencils & Crayons, Sticky tape & tac - foam pads.
Small role play figures & characters
Selection of red, orange and yellow papers for blast off flames ..
Decide what surface structure the Children's moon or planet is to to have and base your play in a suitable area of outside ...
Gravel and dust - Grassy and green - water and sand land surface .. or a combination!
Provide a shuttle assemble area to put together the space craft and if wished include a sign and engineer / technician dressing up items.
To make the Shuttles - cover the plantpots in foil - mould to fit and add any extra features as wanted.
Use upside down and attach blast off flames from the bottom edge - or use open side up and transport the Shuttle crew up into space ...
Ideas to extend play
Suggest mission ideas that the Spaceship and its crew can undertake .. Hide 'treasures and other Characters around the garden that may need help or rescuing .. Include paper in the assembly area and build nose cones for the space shuttles.
