Sand pit socks

Outdoor Games for Preschool, Early Years and all weathers ..

Sand Pit Socks !
put your Preschool sand together with some socks & spoons !

Socks Sand Spoons and willow weave balls ..
This is a great freeflow activity that has many areas for extension

The Colour range of socks is vast. We picked up a selection of plain colours that were available locally.

Blues - Butterflies, Space men,
Greens - Caterpillars, Frogs and Dragons !
Red - Lady bugs
Browns - Bears, Rabbits, dogs,
Silvers and grey - Mice and Space ships !!
White - use crayons to draw and decorate the socks before filling.

All you need for a full Sand sock activity ..

Use everday spoons to fill the socks with sand.

For younger children who may struggle with the sock's opening use a cookie cutter, plastic ring cut from a circular bottle or a Parcel tape tube to hold the sock open.
Push a Parcel tape tube inside the Sock so that younger Children can fill it more easily ..

Sand Sock Bag

Make a bag to safeguard and promote Children's Rights. Help them understand some socks can be for sand and others are for our feet !!
Using this storage bag pattern on Stitch Squirrel's page make a holder for all your Sand pit socks !
This will help keep them all in one place when not in play and also help the children to know that some socks can be for sand play whilst others are for our feet!

Sand sock characters ..

Secure the pieces in place with a glue gun, by sewing or use some double sided tape.
Sticky stuff and sand doesn't always mix well so be prepared for bits to drop off !!

Have fun ...
