Preschool and Early Years fun - easy activity ideas using playdough !

Lavenders Blue Playdough Activity ideas

 Make your own Lavender scented playdough and create a 3D sensory play zone ! 
 

You will need:
FOR an Adult and 4 Children activity x ingredient quantities by 4

      1 cup of  Plain Flour
      ½ cup of Salt
      ¾ Cup Water
      1 tsp Cream of Tartar to approx 4ozs flour
      Oil - 1 Tablespoon to approx 4ozs flour

      Food colouring
      Hand or Other Moisturising cream !
      Lavender oil.

Flour - Salt - Water - Oil - Cream of Tartar - Colouring - Moisturising cream

How to make:

 Use the same mug / cup to measure out the Flour – Salt and Water.

      Add all the top section ingredients to a saucepan and mix.
      Add 1 tsp lavender oil
      1 Tsp red (ideally purple !!) food colouring
      2 Tsp blue food colouring
      And a good squeeze of moisturising cream !!
      Cook over a medium heat until the mixture forms a dough – arm ache is also a good indicator !

Mixing dough ..

 Once cooled, knead and mould until a smooth dough has formed.  


 

  For a squishy element squirt more hand cream into the children's hands and then knead it into the dough .. be ready to catch any pieces that slip from hands !

   Additional tools to have available can include - Rolling pins, Cutters, Scissors, Glitter and Real lavender ~ stalks and flower heads - check age suitability and assess the risk of putting flowers in mouths. 

 The Lavenders Blue sheets contained in the PDFcan be laminated and used as a guide to make dough with the children and the Base picture to model 3D lavender flowers onto.
