Carrier Bags...too many to handle?

This may seem an odd topic to have a page devoted to - but it is a growing problem that we produce, use and throw away far too many plastic carrier bags.
The effect of making all these bags on our environment is an unnecessary waste!

Try to reduce the amount of plastic carrier bags that circulate our globe by trying out a few of our tips…..

Remember to take old bags with you on your next visit to the shops!
Purchase a good sized Back Pack bag .. store smaller bags inside and use on your shopping trips.

Make Stitch Squirrel's carrier bag holder - this will store all the bags neatly.
Make a shortened version of our Stitch squirrels carrier bag dispenser and take it with you next time you need to do a big supermarket shop!

Suggest that maybe your local supermarket could make and give out carrier bag ‘dispensers’ –  as part of a promotional ‘recycle our bags’ theme?
Whenever possible use a paper bag instead of plastic.
Don’t ask for or agree to having additional plastic bags put on your food at the checkout if it is already adequately covered.
Punch holes randomly in the bags and use them to line plant pots, seeding trays and hanging baskets.
Give clean dry bags to charity shops.
Make Kites          cut open the bag and glue on a large V shape in heavy card.
Tie the string at the v point. Hold on and fly !
Make parachute toys with the kids! By tying the handles to a small weight and launching the parachute from a height.

Don't throw your carrier bags in the bin......We found it quite hard to find information on the effects 'biodegradable plastic' will have on our earth in the future – but feel comfortable in saying that ... ‘out of sight is only ‘temporarily’ out of mind!!
