A Firework paint activity
|

Firework Splatts
This is a fun paint & glitter craft project, great for November the 5th.
It uses ball like splatts dipped in paint and dropped from a height, to build up a night sky of exploding fireworks...

The activity can be done indoors or out, space is good .. mops and cleaning up sponges possibly an essential ..
|
|
For the picture you will need
A3 sheets of Black paper.
Large plastic floor sheet - or large shallow tray
Small bowls for poster paints
Assortment of paint colours
PVA glue
Glitter
Set up the painting splatt area by spreading out the plastic sheet and displaying the available paints.
Place an A3 .. or bigger piece of black paper on the sheet and drizzle over some PVA glue.
Alternatively lay the paper on the bottom of the tray.
Sprinkle glitter over the whole sheet .. from a height if wished..
Don't worry about any glitter not stuck to the glue - it jumps around as the splatts hit and has a great 'firework sound & effect ..

For the Splatts:
4 differing fabrics.. we used a fur, cotton, flannel and Tshirt fabric
a small zip lock bag per splatt
2 TBS rice
Cord or twine to tie the top together
scissors

|
Fill a small zip lock bag with about 2 tablespoons of rice
Use a bowl or other circular object to mark out and cut a circle of fabric approximately 17cm in diameter.
Cut an additional amount of circles to suit needs.
Place the bag of rice into the centre of the fabric circle and gather the edges togehter.
Hold in place and wrap a short length of cord around the top and tie off tightly & securely.
Repeat this process for as many splatts as you require.
PLAY .. by holding the top gathered area and dipping the base into pots of paint
Hold up at a distance and let go .....
VERY MESSY :-) .. please make sure you have cleaning up materials ready or permission to make a mess and run ..

|
Once the paintings have been finished, disassemble the splatts - wash the covers and store the rice for another time ..
For shoe, sock and foot protection - Shoe covers can be used to minimise additional footprint tracks ...
