Playdough Recipe
This is a recipe for cooked playdough.
Make up and enjoy

You will Need
Quantities x 2 for a group activity of 4 Children and an Adult

2 mugs of Plain flour
1 mug salt
2 tablespoons Oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 ½ mugs water
1 Tsp food colouring
OPT: Moisturising cream

Place all the ingredients into a saucepan and mix together.
Cook over a medium heat until the mixture becomes a dough and leaves the sides of the pan cleanly.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead until it is smooth.
Cut into sections and color each one with different food dyes.
Store in an airtight container.
This playdough should keep well for a couple of weeks maximum. |

For Health and Safety
PLEASE throw away any playdough Immediately if you are told of an outbreak of thread worm!

can be made using the same playdough recipe - but excluding the food colouring and moisturiser !

Mix together all the ingredients in a large bowl and knead to form an elastic dough.
Salt dough can be kept in an airtight container for a few days.

To Cook
Place your models on a baking sheet and depending on the size and thickness should be cooked slowly at an oven temperature of 130c, 250f, gas mark 1/2 for no less than an hour.
To test gently tap the model to see if it sounds dry and 'hollow'.
Paint with acrylic paints if possible and give a coat of varnish to protect and seal the model against damp.
