Recipes that you and the Children can enjoy eating together..

Basic Biscuit and Cookie Recipes 

These recipes are easiest and most interesting that we have found.
They incorporate basic everyday ingredients and look to include a range of dietary needs.

 Vegetarian biscuit & cookie recipe

1/2 cup softened butter.
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla essence
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup. Plain flour
2 1/3 cups Oatmeal

· Mix the sugar & butter together
· Add the egg
· Mix in all the other ingredients.
· Form a dough
· Sprinkle flour over a surface and 'pat flat.
· Use a star shaped cutter to make your cookies.
· Sprinkle some chocolate chips on the surface
· OR
· Mix up some yellow icing to decorate the biscuits on cooled.
· Bake - 350f ~ 180c ~ Gas 3 .. for 10 mins

This is fantastic recipe .. if you get chance to play with quantities & ingredients you could have a brilliant all rounder recipe for your group to include in any menu, planner policy.
Vegan Banana and Oatmeal Biscuits

 Own Shortbread recipe
This recipe goes back to my Secondary school cookery lessons .. where 'ozs once lived lol :-)

130g Plain flour
130g butter or margarine
30g Icing sugar
30g Cornflour

 METHOD
Place all the ingredients into a bowl and break up the butter / margarine into the dry ingredients.

Place all the ingredients into a bowl ..

Rubbing in method - squash and rub the margarine pieces + powders together through the fingers.

Break the butter into pieces and rub into the dry ingredients ..

Eventually it will begin to resemble breadcrumbs
Give the bowl a shake to raise the larger unrubbed butter pieces to the surface ..

When evenly mixed - ingredients will resemble breadcrumbs ..

Once the mixture is fine and crumbly
Bring it 'together by squeezing gently.

Make a soft dough by squeezing the mixture ..

A soft dough will form ..
If too wet add a teaspoon full of each dry ingredient to absorb the stickiness.
If mix is too dry - add 1 tsp of milk or water and knead into mixture.

Finished dough - ready to roll, share, cut and build ...
If time allows - place in the fridge for 30 minutes to relax & chill before shaping and cutting.

Finished biscuit dough ready to cut and shape ..

Cook 180c 350f Gas mk3. Depending on the size of biscuits cut - Cook for 10 - 15 minutes 
Finished biscuits - Cooled and wrapped

Crumble crumbs and pick up chocolate drops ...
