Craft and Collage Activity for Preschool, Early Years and Interested adults ..

 

This craft features denim fabric and paper as two main contrasting textures to work with.
The puppet is an idea that the children can use to base their own design ideas on.
Encourage skills that develop their own confidence and allow free decision making in decorating the trousers with a variety of collage materials.

Use design & pattern catalogues/pamphlets to look at ways of making unique clothing!

 You will need

White / coloured card
Old denim jean material
Sequins, glitter, beads etc.
Felt pens - PVA glue – Glitter

1. Photocopy the Body and socks templates and cut out from card..
2. Using the trouser template, cut out the jeans from old denim fabric.
3. Glue the trousers to the lower waistband of the Body - may need stapling for added strength!
4. Glue the socks to the lower edge of the jeans at the ankle area.
5. Add hair and eye colour – have a mirror for the children to see what colour their eyes are.
6. Decorate with the felt pens, glitter sequins and any other crafting items you have.

Please remember to let the Children know that making things and decorating them is great fun – but good clothes that we wear shouldn’t be used for arts and crafts .. unless you know differently !
